Year 5 Art
Year 5 have been experimenting with charcoal and watercolours
Year 5 have been studying the shapes of trees by using charcoal to depict their shape and textures.
First, they experimented with charcoals and drew trees with just branches.
Next, they experimented with charcoals and rubbers to produce a stunning silver birch tree trunk effect.
Finally, they applied a backwash to a piece of paper before drawing trees over the top. The children were inspired by the book The Lost Happy Endings by Carol Ann Duffy and Jane Ray. The teachers are incredibly proud of their results.
