DEMOCRACY: This allows children at Woodlands to be aware of their own rights and responsibilities and they are given opportunities to have their voices heard. The elections of House Captains, the School Council and Sports Captains involves pupil voice.

INDIVIDUAL LIBERTY: We give the children opportunities to make their own choices, knowing they are in a safe and supportive environment. Year 3 children made posters about Human Rights. They listened to each other and shared their ideas. A variety of extra–curricular clubs give children the opportunity to try new things and develop specific skills.
THE RULE OF LAW: The school rules are consistently reinforced in class and school assemblies. They are shared between the children and are visible in class. In each class a recognition board is used to focus on a particular desirable behaviour relevant to the class.
Mutual respect: Respect is a core value at Woodlands. Children are encouraged to respect others and all members of the school are treated equally. Year 5 children designed their own kindness tree. Class Ambassadors are chosen by the teachers each term and include children who have demonstrated our school values.
TOLERANCE OF DIFFERENT FAITHS AND BELIEFS: At Woodlands, the children have the opportunity to learn about different faiths, beliefs and cultures. Through Assemblies, Religious Education, PSHE and other subjects, the children develop an awareness and appreciation of different cultures. In Year 6, the children have been learning about different places of worship and looking at different artefacts.
